As we celebrate #TravelTuesday we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some amazing statistics from Baz Gray’s recent travel adventure: SATcase R3 Challenge expedition: Challenge Antarctica.
The recent Antarctica summer season has seen 157 ski expeditions from all starting points to the South Pole, with Baz’s expedition being the 155th.
Baz Gray is the 377th person to ski to the South Pole and the 427th individual ski journey (there are multiple duplicates as 36 people have done it more than once).
There have been 195 individual ski journeys from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole. Baz;s journey is number 190. This includes several duplicates by people who have done it more than once.
34 people have skied solo from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole. Baz is number 33.
23 people have done it solo unsupported (no resupply) and unassisted, Baz is number 22.
Baz is the 12th British person to ski solo unsupported and unassisted from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole.
Baz is the oldest Brit to do it solo, and the third oldest unsupported solo.
